Tung is a proud graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. She participated in LaGuardia’s virtual senior acting showcase in her final year of high school, where her current manager saw her for the first time. A few months later, Tung received an email from the manager inviting her to an audition and to start working together during the second semester of her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University. The Summer I Turned Pretty, the television adaption of Jenny Han’s best-selling trilogy on Amazon Prime, is a television series.
The audition was for the lead part of Isabel “Belly” Conklin. Tung took virtual college classes and used Zoom to try out for the show. Later on, she was hired for the role, which counts as her first acting credit. The second season of the show was filmed in the summer of 2022 after it was renewed by Amazon Prime prior to the first season’s premiere. Shortly after being cast in the lead role of The Summer I Turned Pretty, in September 2021, Tung signed a talent agency contract with Creative Artists Agency. She will debut on Broadway as Eurydice in Hadestown in February 2024.
